Badrinath Srinivasan’s appointment underlines the importance of the Southeast Asian market to Wipro and is one of the six regions under the company’s APMEA Strategic Market Unit.

Wipro’s Southeast Asia operations have a new captain at the helm. Badrinath Srinivasan has been appointed as the new Managing Director for Southeast Asia and will report to NS Bala, CEO, Wipro – Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa (APMA).

A veteran of almost 20 years in the industry, Badrinath Srinivasan will inject much-needed vigor into Wipro’s operations in Southeast Asia. Having spent his entire career at Infosys, Badrinath is well-equipped to handle the challenges that await him at Wipro.

He held multiple leadership positions in sales and consulting across Europe, the United States, and Asia-Pacific regions in Infosys, with the most recent one being Asia head for Financial Services and Insurance.

His departure will certainly have an impact on Infosys although its extent remains to be seen. His knack for strategy and driving mergers and acquisitions along with establishing strategic partner ecosystems will fit perfectly with Wipro’s vision moving forward.

His immediate task will be to strengthen key markets in Southeast Asia, focus on large deals and strategic transformation, according to a Wipro statement.

Wipro has already had an established presence in Southeast Asia for over a decade now. It has engaged in partnerships with both public and private sectors across multiple industry verticals and helped them transform its business.

Badrinath Srinivasan’s appointment underlines the importance of the Southeast Asian market to Wipro and is one of the six regions under the company’s APMEA Strategic Market Unit.

NS Bala was ecstatic, stating that the new appointment would help Wipro’s plans for the Southeast Asian market given the potential for digital growth and specialized technology requirements.

“I’m excited to welcome Badri to lead our Southeast Asia business, and confident that his leadership and deep understanding of the market will help clients succeed and drive our growth ambition in this region,” he added.

Commenting on his latest appointment, Badrinath Srinivasan gushed with optimism and said that it was an opportunity for him to contribute to the company’s growth. “I look forward to contributing to Wipro’s regional expansion as we amplify investments in building local capabilities,” he quipped.

Wipro APMEA’s new MD is more than qualified for the job. He holds an Engineering degree in Electronics & Communications and is an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow.

Wipro’s Q3 results fell short of expectations on all fronts. For the last quarter ending December 2021, the net profit came in flat at Rs. 2,970 crores.

Nevertheless, the letdown can be contributed to the company reporting results ahead of the guidance. Therefore, even though all verticals witnessed impressive growth, expectations were a little too high.

Badrinath’s appointment should shake things up for the better, given his track record. That being said, one cannot expect results instantaneously. As they say, all good things take time.
